Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, Class 1 pedal-assist e-bikes are allowed everywhere traditional bikes are: on all

    paved park roads and the Pa’rus Trail. They must follow the same rules and stop for shuttles to

    pass. E-bikes aren’t allowed on other park trails.

  • No, although the Zion shuttles allows up to three standard pedal bicycles, they do not permit e-bikes on the shuttle racks.

  • No, biking of any kind is not permitted through the Mt. Carmel Tunnel. All bicycles must be transported by vehicle. We offer shuttle services through the tunnel; if you need assistance, please call us at (435) 772-0400.

  • Ride the Pa’rus Trail (15 mph limit) and the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. Yield to

    shuttles (pull over and stop), ride single file on the right, and use bike racks at major shuttle

    stops/trailheads when you park to hike. Early morning or evening rides help you avoid heat and

    shuttle traffic.

  • Yes. Bicyclists/pedestrians pay $20 per person (good for 7 days) unless you use a

    valid park pass. The bike/pedestrian entrance is by Zion Outfitter/Zion Brew Pub in Springdale.

    • Allowed: Class 1 e-bikes — these are pedal-assist bicycles where the motor only works while you are pedaling and stops providing assistance once you reach 20 mph.

    • Not Allowed: Class 2 e-bikes — these have a throttle that can propel the bike without pedaling. Using the throttle function is prohibited in the park.

    Class 3 e-bikes (pedal-assist up to 28 mph) are also not permitted.

    This means if your e-bike requires you to pedal and simply gives you a little boost (Class 1), you’re good to go. If it can move on its own with a throttle (Class 2 or higher), it cannot be used inside Zion.

  • Mornings and evenings are recommended to avoid peak heat and heavy shuttle traffic;

    shuttles won’t pass moving bikes, so plan to pull over and stop when a shuttle is behind you.
